Regione Lazio at Maker Faire Rome 2025

Innovation, startups, and opportunities are at the heart of Europe’s most creative trade fair

La Regione Lazio will be a key player at Maker Faire Rome 2025

Regione Lazio  will be among the event’s institutional partners and, in collaboration with the Camera di Commercio di Roma, will have access to a space of approximately 100 square meters dedicated to innovation and opportunities for makers and startups.

The area will host a group of startups and SMEs from Lazio, selected through a specific call and supported by the PR FESR Lazio 2021-2027, as well as a section reserved for FabLab Lazio and the Active Spaces of Lazio Innova.

This space will showcase some of the best prototypes created by the regional FabLab as part of the “Faber School Digital Manufacturing” and “Startupper School Academy” programs, as well as other initiatives developed in collaboration with universities and startups that have used Lazio Innova’s digital laboratories.

The projects presented involve professionals with expertise in design and digital prototyping, along with designers, freelancers, university students, technical institutes, secondary schools in Lazio, and innovative startups.

Prototypes created by Startupper School Academy students

  • I.I.S. Paolo Baffi – Fiumicino (RM) with the Eco’s Bubble project. “The bubble of the future”: a sustainable, smart, and unforgettable vacation. Made from recycled plastic, it offers a personalized design for an immersive experience and, integrating with nature, creates.
  • I.S.I.S. Enrico Mattei Cerveteri (RM) with the Gamescape project. An immersive training platform on construction site safety, which continuously monitors awareness and the importance of regulations and workplace accident prevention.
  • I.I.S. Luigi Di Savoia – Sede IPSAR Cittaducale (RI) with the Kale Chips project Sustainable snack: kale chips grown in a hydroponic greenhouse and cooked in an air fryer.
  • I.I.S. Via Roma 298 Roma with the Dropwise project. A water dispenser connected to a fountain that activates simply by bringing any eco-friendly metal alloy water bottle near it thanks to a simple inductive sensor. The fountain can be used by anyone who wants to drink.

Faber School Projects

  • Positive Couture, Zero Waste – The pattern graphics, generated using AI, are composed of modules of the HIV virus and the PREP pill to communicate the CURE that exists and to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the founding of ANLAIDS.
  • Desktop metal fusion – Innovative system, using lost-wax casting, for producing 3D printed metal parts by creating an automated furnace with the mold itself.
  • Pensilina in bamboo – A sustainable, technologically advanced street furniture module inspired by an acorn that can be replicated in different compositional forms, adapting to the destination location.
  • Arcade Faber – Two-player arcade console with retro 80s video games built using digital manufacturing techniques: Space Invaders, Pong, Snake, Breakout.
  • Robot assistente apicoltore – A system that integrates artificial intelligence, robotics, and smart vision to remotely support beekeeping: voice commands become real actions performed by the robotic arm. Technology, nature, and the future, in your hands.
  • Girasol Tech – Smart, cost-effective, computer-controlled solar tracker that follows two axes to maximize solar energy harvesting while increasing efficiency by 30%.
  • Nèctarìa – A low-alcohol apricot cider. Thanks to digital manufacturing and artificial intelligence, the identity, packaging, product communication, and some promotional items were created in a very short time.
  • Folcobosco – A card and skill game created using digital printing techniques, in which players, in the guise of amateur journalists, explore a forest populated by bizarre encounters to demonstrate the existence of legendary cryptids from Italian folklore.
  • The Pirate King – Cardgame – A strategic and competitive card game, created using digital printing techniques, set in a humorous pirate universe where anthropomorphic animals challenge sea monsters and legends of the seven seas to conquer glory, loot, and supremacy.
  • Lunar – a device that uses RGB and IR sensors to acquire images of skin moles, with the aim of creating datasets useful for training an artificial intelligence model capable of detecting anomalies and supporting early dermatological diagnoses.
  • Cities without Barriers – Inclusive Navigation for All – a dual-app system that maps sidewalks and urban barriers, providing accessible, safe, and personalized routes for people with limited mobility, promoting an inclusive, sustainable, and barrier-free city.

Interactive Lamps – created during a training program with LUMSA University students that explores the entire digital manufacturing process, from initial concept to prototyping, combining creativity, technology, and hands-on experimentation to give shape to innovative and functional ideas.

Matchmaking, orientation and storytelling of innovation

The Lazio Region’s program also includes matchmaking and showcase activities, designed to foster new synergies between businesses, regional stakeholders, and international delegations. Furthermore, with the support of Lazio Innova, the Lazio Region will offer orientation sessions open to the public, focusing on analyzing the impact of artificial intelligence on professions and promoting regional calls for proposals to support entrepreneurship.
