Research that opens up new perspectives regarding the treatment of mesothelioma with natural substances
It is a rare and drug-resistant tumor, often originating from exposure to asbestos. We are talking about mesothelioma, a malignant disease for which new and interesting prospects have come to light.
Thanks to the commitment and efforts of the National Research Council (CNR), ENEA and Federico II University of Naples, it has been shown that the molecules contained in the grape seeds of certain grapes are able to block the growth of mesothelioma cancer cells.

The research study, published in the Journal of Functional Foods, also showed that the same molecules are able to increase the effectiveness of chemotherapy treatments. In fact, combining the substances extracted from some specific types of grapes with anti-cancer drugs, the elements derived from these grapes can cause the death of malignant cells.
The grapes in question are those of the Aglianico and Falanghina variety which are two excellent wine grapes grown in southern Italy.

This is a research project that is the result of constant innovation that drives the work of CNR and ENEA, two of the major partners of the Maker Faire. With a view, shared with the spirit of the fair, to offer scientific and technological discoveries useful for the concrete resolution of common problems and we hope that research study of this kind can lead to excellent results.
