Innovative tools and technologies for farmers: satellite data, forecast models, Decision Support Systems
Climate change, international competition, risk of pest and diseases: all variables that increasingly have a great impact on the agricultural sector. Maintaining optimal conditions is becoming difficult and any errors in crop management can lead to a decrease in yield, with serious damage to the economic sustainability of the farm.
Today there are tools able to optimize agronomic practices and resource consumption: satellite imagery, forecast models and Decision Support Systems (DSS) are able to help technicians and farmers in the analysis of decisions to be taken to intervene at the most appropriate time and place. The use of these technologies allows to reduce the management costs of the crop, increase the quality of the products, safeguard the agroecosystem, determine the amount of necessary input such as water, fertilizers, plant protection products and optimize the operations to be carried out.
