Making Little Makers: Design Thinking and Entrepreneurship for 4 to 6 year-olds
The next generation of Makers is in Kindergarten now, right? When will they become the current generation of Makers and be ready to actively contribute to our community? We say right away! This talk aims at sharing ways of using Design Thinking as a framework to help very young learners develop self-competence, empathy and sense of community as they entrepreneur and learn Maker skills. We will discuss the particularities of young children’s creative process, advantages of fostering community-oriented problem-solving in early years as well as techniques to overcome the literacy and abstract thinking barriers.

Ivna Trevas and Leonardo Sampaio
Ivna Rolim, a teacher trainer, Makerspace Specialist and Academic Coordinator at a K-5 bilingual school, and Leonardo Sampaio, a teacher and teacher trainer in Bilingual Programs, have taught very young learners using the Maker-Centered Learning approach for the past five years. They have presented in various international conferences on the subject of MCL and are great enthusiasts of searching for innovative ways to teach.
It is the most important event in the world of innovation. Is a showcase of invention, creativity, and resourcefulness. Maker Faire gathers together tech enthusiasts, crafters, educators, tinkerers, schools, universities, research institutes, artists, students, and corporations.
