NANOFIBER-OPUNTIA BIOTECH: INNOVATIVE PRODUCTS FROM THE WASTE

Indian fig blades can be a resource due to their nutritional and nutraceutical functional value. ENEA's SSPT-BIOAG-PROBIO laboratory studies the methods of extraction of cladode mucilage, characterizing its biochemical properties, for applications in the pharmaceutical, food, cosmetic and construction fields. As part of the bilateral project Italy / Mexico financed with the contribution of MAECI, the ENEA group and the College of Michoacàn studied the application of mucilage in the restoration of cultural heritage.
