Steve Lambert - You have everything it takes to get what we need
Laura Leuzzi and Steve Lambert will talk about how the creative problem solving skills it takes to be a great “maker” – research, creative thinking, experimentation, building and using tools, collaboration, and getting it done – are the same skills we can use to build a better world. Lambert will bring examples from history and the work of the Center for Artistic Activism and talk about strategies and tactics you can put to use right away.

Laura Leuzzi is an art historian, curator and Research Fellow at DJCAD University of Dundee. Author of articles and essays in books and exhibition catalogues, her research is focused on early video art, digital art and activism, European video art histories, reenactment, art and feminism and new media. She is an Associate curator at NEoN Digital Arts Festival. She has curated exhibitions, events and screenings at CCA, Glasgow; The Showroom, London; The Nunnery Gallery, London; MAXXI Museum of the 21st Century Arts, Rome; Walcherturm, Zurich; Horsecross Arts, Perth; The Summerhall, Edinburgh; The Glasgow Women's Library; The Lethaby Gallery, Central St Martin, London. She co-edited the books REWINDItalia Early Video Art in Italy (John Libbey Publishing 2015) and EWVA European Women's Video Art (John Libbey Publishing 2019).
Steve Lambert has worked alongside artists and activists in 20 countries on 4 continents helping them to effect power. Trained in the arts, he is known for large scale, public projects that engage new audiences on difficult topics through the social science of comedy, games, theater, and democratic participation.
Lambert is the co-founder and co-director of the Center for Artistic Activism, a research and training institute helping activists be more creative and artists be more effective.
As an artist, Lambert’s work has been shown both nationally and internationally, from art galleries to Times Square to protest marches, featured in four documentary films, and over two dozen books, and multiple museums. Lambert has presented at the United Nations several times. His research is included in a United Nations report on the impact of advertising on cultural rights, and his research is the basis for a book on popular understandings of capitalism.
Over the past five years he's focused on working with sex workers on campaigns for human rights, fighting for safe consumption spaces with people who use drugs like heroin and methamphetamine, and battling pharmaceutical corporations over pricing and access to life saving medicines.
