BIOCONVERSION OF WASTE MEDIATED BY SOLDIER FLY (HERMES PROJECT) - BIOCONVERSIONE DI SCARTI MEDIATA DALLA MOSCA SOLDATO (PROGETTO HERMES)

The presentation aims to illustrate the HERMES project, funded by Lazio Innova. The project was born from a collaboration between CREA and ENEA with the aim of defining a sustainable technology for the recovery and valorization of organic waste through the bioconversion activity carried out by the larvae of the dipteran Hermetia illucens (soldier fly). The bioconversion process falls under the CORS (Conversion of Organic Refuse by Saprophages) treatments and makes it possible to obtain a residue that can be used as a soil conditioner and a larval biomass that is a source of biomolecules (proteins, lipids and chitin) to be used for the development of bio-based supply chains.
