Marco (fancy name) is an autistic boy who attends our school, the IPSIA "F. Corridoni" in Corridonia (MC).
Marco cannot speak and cannot even use the I-Pad because of its stereotypic. For this reason a special needs teacher and three students of the class 4E electronic operator, supported by a teacher of electronics, have decided to help Marco realizing a communicator based on Augmentative and alternative communication (AAC). You have chosen to use the Arduino and a shield to manage the audio tracks.
With a selector the teacher chooses the context (actions, needs, yes/no, etc. ) and the student will have the opportunity to choose between two or three alternatives. A sensor will activate the voice file corresponding to the selected image. The small size and the low weight make the device easy to carry and the impact resistant cover protects it from accidental drops.
