Orto da salotto 2.0
The aim of this exhibit is to show ho it is possible to construct an indoor vertical garden.
The garden, that can be made with CNC machines and 3D printers, can be fully customized.
The garden has an integrated led lighting system, a watering system and technologies to communicate to its owner its status, as well as the level of water available.
The project is in line with the theme of agriculture, with a reference to "2014, year of family agriculture" and is among the themes being coverd within Expo2015.
The concept behind the vertical home garden is to allow even those of us who live in cities, and do not have balconies or terraces to exploit a space to grow vegetables.
Thanks to digital fabrication it is possible to customize the different modules to exploit at best the space available within each living space.
3D printing allows to construct the parts needed for the watering system.
The garden can communicate the status of its water reservoirs to its owners thanks to customly created electronic boards.
The system employs low power LEDs for lighting in order to work properly even in rooms that are not well lit.
The exhibit shows, with a series of panels and a working prototype, the various phases of the construction and assembly of the garden.

FabLab Genova
We are a team of electronic, hardware, programming, carpentry, 3D-printing, digital technologies and making enthusiasts who decided to conduct their projects in a self-managed way.
Our project has a main target: that of make and do-it-yourself, but we are not a just a production workshop.
Self-management, the claim of dismissed public spaces, the sharing of knowledge and technologies, safe access to our laboratory for everyone who wants to develop a big project or just a dish-hanger, these are our main and daily goals.
Fablab genova lives within "Buridda", an Occupied and Self-managed Social Laboratory and is self-financed by whip-rounds and spontaneous gifts given by people who use the lab and/or are happy to help it survive, exist, grow and improve.
Our union was born autonomously more than three years ago and, together with the whole Buridda, has recently experienced a forced evacuation on request of Genoa municiple.
We gave a firm answer to that action occupying a new building, which is now our location.
Fond of the lack of aggregation spaces and cultural events which are deeply independent from institutional logics in our city, we will carry on what we believe in and keep on giving free access to competences and machines to whoever may want to realise his ideas with us, being a little bit more free from the market.
