Three systems to determine the center of the knee are presented; the first based on the study of the trajectory of the leg in flexion-extension through a "robotic" assessment tool, the second based on the graphic design and three-dimensional modeling and the third on the self-centering determined by friction.
The discovery of this "anthropometric point" allows to put in a perfect parallel the mechanical device with the physiological kinematics of the knee in a way that the device does not transmit harmful tensions to the joint.
In practice, the determination of this center may find application in the guardians for the knee of patients such as, for example, those suffering of poliomyelitis, in transplantation of the knee and in the exoskeletons used for the rehabilitation of paraplegic.
The easier and more widespread application, however, is that of guardian, which has the advantage of being easily usable by all and with which one can appreciate the pleasurable sensations of a mechanical device that reproduces an articular physiological motion.
This application ensures that the innovation presented corresponds to what was said by Henry Ford: "There is real progress only when the benefits of a new technology for everyone."

this work gained encouraging appreciation in Italy and abroad
- 1985-86: definition of the concept: Maximum Theoretical Strenght ( FMAXT®) through a research developed on 255 subjects;
- 1995: demonstration of the following assessment: "the maximal strenght which may be developed by a muscular group is the same both when achieved through the contractile muscles and when achieved using both the contractile and the elastic muscles". The research has been performed on 120 subjects;
