TOMMI - Virtual reality game to support children with cancer during therapy

TOMMI is a digital game based on virtual reality and developed to reduce stress and pain in hospitalized children with cancer and their caregivers, collecting during the game informations about patient’s psychomotor skills, useful to monitor his performance during therapy. The project aims to improve the adherence to oncology therapy by patients, improving the quality of hospitalization and patient-to-doctor relationship while at the same time providing a growing amount of data about patients’ psychomotor capabilities.

Softcare Studios

Softcare Studios and its project TOMMI are the result of the work of a team of 5 people, with different and complementary professional experiences, for years already committed to develop innovative, high social impact projects. Valentino Megale, CEO and biologist, deals with the psycho-oncological aspects at the heart of the project, providing a connection between patients and medical staff needs with game's technical development. Bruno Lenzi, CTO and electronic engineer, works on Game and Platform Design, coordinating game and database development. Cristian Currò, COO and biomedical engineer, works on project management and business model development. Gianfranco Damato, software developer, works on game's technical development, graphics and animations in virtual reality. Chiara Aielli, electronic engineer, works on user interfaces and data collection algorithms.
