PRIN2015 UPA4SAR - Profilazione e adattività per una robotica assistiva incentrata sull'utente

The UPA4SAR (User-centered Profiling and Adaptation for Socially Assistive Robotics) project is aimed at assisting older people with mobile robots in the fields of health and social care. In particular, it is aimed at providing assistance to elderly people with dementia, who prefer to live in their own home, but with a high risk of making mistakes in following medical treatments, feeding themselves badly, and so with a high difficulty in taking care of themselves. Indeed, one of the main goals of the project is to investigate reliable mechanisms for dynamically recognizing and modeling human Activities of Daily Living, or ADL, and their possible deviations from common patterns to support people with mild cognitive impairment and their caregivers.

Silvia Rossi

Silvia ROSSI is assistant Professor at the University of Naples Federico II (Department of Electrical Engineering and Information Technologies). She is currently co-chief manager of the PRISCA (Intelligent Robotics and Advanced Cognitive System Projects) lab. She received the M.Sc. degree in Physics from University of Naples Federico II, Italy, in 2001, and the Ph.D. in Information and Communication Technologies from the University of Trento, Italy, in 2006. During her career, she was a research assistant at the Division on Cognitive and Communication Technologies - ITC-irst (Italy), at the Institute of Cybernetics E. Caianiello - CNR (Italy), and visiting researcher at the Center for Human-Computer Communication - Oregon Health and Science University, Oregon (USA). She is in the program/organization committee of several international conferences onHuman-robot interaction, Artificial Intelligence, and Multi-Agent Systems. She participated in a number of European and national projects, among which, the FP7 projects DEXMART, SAPHARI, the Italian Smart Cities ORCHESTRA project, and PEACH project. She is currently Coordinator and Principal Investigator of the National Project UPA4SAR “User Profiling and Adaptation for Socially Assistive Robotics”.
