Dock3 – The Startup Lab
Dock3-The Startup Lab is the new entrepreneurship and open-innovation program of RomaTre University, addressed to students and graduates from all the academic backgrounds.
It is composed of 3 phases:
- Dock3Jam: a full weekend of idea generation and idea development with 100 participants and 20+ mentors;
- Dock3Training: 2 months to build a multidisciplinary team, generate a business idea and validate it on the market;
- Dock3Sprint: 4 months of incubation, 16 workshops e 50+ mentors.

Paolo Merialdo, Carlo Alberto Pratesi, Andrea Dal Piaz
Paolo Merialdo
Paolo Merialdo is associate professor at the Department of Engineering of the Roma Tre University. His research activities are in the fields of databases and artificial intelligence and focus on the study of methods and techniques to extract information from unstructured data sources. He co-founded an academic spin-off and a startup. He is advisor at the LuissEnlabs accelerator. He co-founded InnovAction Lab, a program to foster entrepreneurship among university students. He is member of the “Task Force Artificial Intelligence†of the Digital Italy Agency (AgID).
Carlo Alberto Pratesi
Professor of Marketing, Innovation and Sustainability at Roma Tre University. Consultant for leading companies and Italian institutions, a former President of the Startup Commission of the Lazio Region. Member of the SIMktg (Italian Marketing Society steering committee) and President of the Marketing Award for universities. He was part of the ROME team, winner of the 2014 Solar Decathlon Europe, the international competition between universities in the field of sustainable construction building. Member of the Order of Journalists. He is author of numerous publications, including: The marketing of branded food products (Warner Books, 1995); Marketing Made in Italy (Franco Angeli 2001); Marketing Plan of the new products, (with Matt G., McGraw-Hill 2002); Branding (with Matt G., McGraw-Hill 2006); Perfect Food. Companies, consumers and environmental impact of food (with M.Marino, Editions Environment 2015); Digital Marketing (with A. Poggiani, McGraw-Hill 2016). Marketing (with Peter J. P. and J. H. Donnelly, McGraw-Hill 2017).
Andrea Dal Piaz
Andrea Dal Piaz is the Responsible for Dock3-The Startup Lab, the new entrepreneurship program of RomaTre University. With more than 10 years of experience in international cooperation and in business and idea development, he has been COO of Startupbootcamp FoodTech and coordinator of Douala Business Incubator, addressed to young Cameroonians with a social impact business idea. During the 4 years of presidency of Micro Progress, he supported hundreds of micro-entrepreneurs – with particular regards to youth, migrants and refugees – in their business startup and he designed a specific tool to define micro-enterprises’ business model.
