Bio-inspired porous materials
The project concerns hybrid foams (polyurethanes or ceramic-based) with multiscale porosity and tunable properties, produced by using sustainable sources such as diatomite and/or secondary raw materials such as biomass. The polyurethane foams highlight thermal and acoustic properties to be applied in the building sector. The diatomite-based foams due to their hydrophilicity/oleophobicity character, could potentially be proposed as oil/water separation membranes in the environmental sector.
