Splastica: plastica sostenibile

Splastica: plastica sostenibile

SPlastica srl is an innovative start up that produces new materials similar to plastic, but 100% biodegradable and compostable, based on natural polymers extracted from food waste, using an eco-sustainable synthesis. The proposed services concern research and development projects, to be carried out on commission, on behalf of companies interested in using their own food waste as primary source for the realization of eco-sustainable products.

SPlastica srl: Gatto Emanuela, Valentina Armuzza, Raffaella Lettieri, Agri Island srl (Giordano Ferrari, Pierpaolo Lacquaniti, Andrea Moresco)

Emanuela Gatto, MSc cum laude in Chemistry, PhD in Chemical Sciences. In 2007 she won the National Semeraro prize, as the best Ph.D. thesis in the Physical Chemistry field. In 2007 she has been a Marie Curie fellowship at the University of Linkoping, Sweden. Since 2009 she is a researcher at the Department of Chemical Sciences and Technologies of the University of Rome Tor Vergata. Her research area of interest concerns the physical-chemical characterization of biological macromolecules. The guideline of her research activity is based on the study of bio-inspired materials, based on the idea that the opportunities that Nature offers us are always much more efficient than the synthetic alternatives. Dr. Gatto is the CEO of SPlastica.
Valentina Armuzza, MSc cum laude in Chemistry, PhD in Chemical Sciences. Dr. Armuzza is specialized in organic synthesis, in particular in the study of alternative synthesis processes, in the field of "green chemistry". During the doctorate he worked on the synthesis and characterization of peptides, and is currently located in Berlin (Germany) where he works as a chemist at the company Peptides & Elephants GmbH.
Raffaella Lettieri, MSc in Chemistry, PhD in Chemical Sciences. Dr. Lettieri is specialized in the study, synthesis and chemical-physical characterization of biological macromolecules.
Graziano Massaro, MSc in Economics, chartered accountant and auditor. The dott. Massaro is the CFO of SPlastica.
AGRI ISLAND is an innovative startup that works in the field of food production research and development, using design and industrial criteria, rigidly anchored to highly sustainable systems for the environment. AGRI ISLAND carries out research and development activities mainly in the agricultural sector, creating cultivation/breeding systems based on aquaponic technology, implemented with innovative data analysis processes, and designed to facilitate rapid production. AGRI ISLAND is an initiative in the field of innovative, high-tech agriculture, which sets important goals in terms of economic and production returns, using space and energy in a highly sustainable way and producing foodstuffs with a very low ecological footprint.
