CNR4All Componente edilizio per uso residenziale a supporto dell’efficientamento e della produzione di energia da fonte rinnovabile fotovoltaica – E-Brick
The project concerns the development of an active building component for the cladding of facades of new or existing buildings. This component was implemented through the integration of photovoltaic technology and energy storage. The object of the project was also the development of control and power electronics for managing the energy produced/stored, and the entire building system to be applied to vertical facades, including thermal insulation. The result was a building component prototype (70x70cm) that can be easily connected to other modules and installed on the wall. A demonstrator of a façade of 12 modules was realized for the experimental phase. The project was developed by CNR-ITAE in collaboration with Tecnicoop and SISC companies.
E-Brick produces electricity from solar source, store it thanks to an integrated battery and uses it when necessary, allowing self-consumption and limiting the exchange with the power network. The system is a plug and play one both from a structural and plant engineering point of view. Its modular application on the wall facilitates the construction of ventilated facades, improving the thermal and comfort performance of the buildings. The distributed control and diagnosis system developed, identifies uniquely the behavior of the individual components, monitoring possible malfunctions, and facilitating the maintenance operations. The main fields of application are residential and small industry.
