STEM learning and Environment Monitoring
STEM learning needs strong motivations, preferably if these have socially useful implications; the role of citizens in the surveillance of the water and air environment in order to detect episodes of heavy pollution is one of these. Citizen Science oriented to environmental surveillance requires low-cost and open source instrumentation. Makers, with the technology available today, can do a lot to achieve this goal, building measurement tools and participating in training.
Paolo Bonelli
Paolo Bonelli is a maker with a passion for making scientific instrumentation and Citizen Science. He is an Atmosphere Physicist and deals with meteorology and the environment. Since 2014, Paolo has been collaborating with WeMake s.r.l. in Milan, where he teaches lectures and workshops on open and low-cost electronics. He built a weather station at the Cascina S.Ambrogio in Milan. He collaborates with university groups and writes of the website www.coscienzambientale.com. He was a teacher at the SIAM school in Milan and at the Fastweb Digital Academy. He has published the book "Arduino, LoRa e la Difesa dellAmbiente", Sandit-libri Editore.
