Hephaestus Rocketry Team
We aim to develop a scale model of a fully functional and autonomous rocket. Systems such as the start sequence, stabilization and parachutes opening, are managed by the electronics of the rocket and the launchpad. Thanks to a bunch of sensors, avionics is able to determine the attitude error and, after a series of calculations, to correct it by thrust vectoring control. What really matters to us is scalability and replicability, which is why all of our files and advices are available open source on our website, so that anyone who wanted to, could easily 3Dprint all the necessary parts.
Christian Ferracane
The team is divided into three departments that work collaboratively. The structures department is responsible for designing, building and testing the structure of the rocket and of each component attached and connected to the available means; the one of propulsion realizes the engine starting from compounds accessible to anyone, so as to be easily replicable following the open source instructions and files on www.hephaestus.space; finally the electronic department is responsible for designing the beating heart of the model, making sure that the rocket starts, is stable and functioning.
