The goal of this project is to give an overview on how the RBCS and CONTACT research units of IIT design studies and experiments on human-robot interaction. You’ll get the chance to play a card game with one of our iCub robots and see how it reacts to your moves. We will explain how we use this type of games to better understand how humans react to the robot’s behaviour and how to enable robots to learn. We will show how we take advantage of what we understand to make the interaction with the iCub more and more natural.
Robotics Brain and Cognitive Science (RBCS) and COgNitive Architecture for Collaborative Technologies (CONTACT) units of IIT.
Alessandra Sciutti is Tenure Track Researcher, head of the CONTACT (COgNiTive Architecture for Collaborative Technologies) Unit of the Italian Institute of Technology (IIT). In 2018 she has been awarded the ERC Starting Grant wHiSPER (www.whisperproject.eu), focused on the investigation of joint perception between humans and robots.
Rea Francesco is an IIT robotics researcher. He got his PhD degree in 2013 where he exploited the aspects of perception and cognition in active vision. Since 2009, at the Istituto Italiano di Tecnologia, he has promoted the research in the field of humanoid robotics and is team leader of the cognitive interaction lab.
