The smart buoy has been manufactured by rotational molding with a unique design. Its shape depends on the need to precisely define the buoyancy line, without affecting other functional performances, such as bumping properties. The prototype is integrated with enhanced electronics which is able to measure the fill level of the oil into the buoy and to communicate by GPS with other systems, other buoys or central units. Electronics has been designed for further developments, such as measuring environmental parameters or making video surveillance.
