The Politecnico di Torino and their Teams
The Politecnico of Torino involves the students in Teams with a mission: learning by doing with the goal to grow up a new generation of engineers able to accept challenges and solve problems.
The main goal of the teams is a practical training of the future engineer: to design means to compromise between an idea and what is actually buildable.
The Politecnico would like to present 8 teams that from 15 years make innovation participating to international competitions and events, in particular:
- Polito Sailing Team that design, built and sailing of sailboats prototypes. The sport team improves from year to year optimizing manifacture processes, experimenting different sandwich combinations, modelling hull and sails geometry according to marine conditions expected during the regatta.
- Team H2politO that design, develop and test on track energy-efficient vehicles, in order to compete in races as Shell Eco-marathon with different propulsion system like hydrogen fuel cell and bioethanol.
- Team ISAAC design and develop service mobile robot prototypes.
- Squadra Corse PoliTO Driverless: converts a single seater prototype race car into an autonomous one, that will compete in the Formula Student events, developing a race car that reaches level 4-5 of autonomous driving.
- Team S55 designs and build a 1: 8 scale flying replica of the historic S55X.
- Team Policumbent design and manufactures human-powered vehicles, pushing them every year to reach incredible speeds in the Nevada desert, obtaining efficient vehicles that reaches speed of 136 km/h.
- Team WEEE Open recover broken hardware, take apart the scrap and extract the components, install open-source software, create useful software and teaching how to do these things.
