Speak in public is an experimental tool which combines virtual reality (VR) and biosensors for the treatment of stuttering. The integrated use of such technologies allows obtaining further meaningful insights on the patient's state of stress. Indeed, virtual reality activity recreates situations similar to the ones of everyday life. During the VR experience, the therapist is able to supervise the modification of the patients emotional state thanks to the use of biosensors which monitor their vital signs.

CRC - Centro Ricerca e Cura - Donatella Tomaiuoli | Politecnico di Milano - Franca Garzotto

Donatella Tomaiuoli, Speech therapist and Psychopedagogist, specialized in the assessment and treatment of stuttering. She is the Director of the C.R.C. Balbuzie of Rome, senior Lecturer at Sapienza University of Rome and at Tor Vergata University of Rome. She is speaker at scientific congresses and author of several publications.


Franca Garzotto is an Associate Professor of Computer Engineering at the Department of Electronics and Information, Politecnico di Milano. She has a Degree in Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Computer Engineering. She is (co-)author of over 80 publications in international conference proceedings
