Tecnologie e trattamenti innovativi in soccorso dei beni culturali / Innovative technologies and treatments for cultural heritage
The project concerns the development of more sustainable and alternative techniques and processes for the recovery and study of degraded cultural heritage. For the first time in Italy ionizing radiation techniques, available at the ENEA, will be used to treat non-invasively artifacts of artistic and cultural interest. Furthermore, treatments will be carried out with hydrogel with and without photo-initiator to clean paper samples, such treatments use non-toxic, sustainable substances and eliminate oxidation products due to cellulose aging.
Sabina Botti, Alessia Cemmi, Ilaria di Sarcina, Monia Vadrucci (ENEA)
Ilaria Di Sarcina has a degree in Physics, she works as a researcher at the Calliope gamma irradiation facility (C.R. ENEA Casaccia, Rome) dealing with the design and execution of qualifications and tests on materials and components in the Space, nuclear and high energy physics fields, characterization optics and structural of irradiated materials, dosimetry and environmental tests (C.R. ENEA Casaccia, Rome). He has experience in the design of irradiation tests, dosimetry and physico-chemical characterization of the effects induced by gamma radiation in organic and inorganic matrices.
Alessia Cemmi graduated in Chemistry, PhD in Materials Engineering, Master in Nuclear Technologies. Responsible of the FSN-FISS-SNI Laboratory and of the Calliope gamma irradiation facility (C.R. ENEA Casaccia, Rome). He has experience in the design of irradiation tests, dosimetry and physico-chemical characterization of the effects induced by gamma radiation in organic and inorganic matrices.
Sabina Botti is a Senior researcher, ENEA, FSN-TECFIS-MNF. Research activity fields: materials science (composite materials, nano-carbon, graphene/nanotubes composites), Raman spectroscopy, SERS, Raman confocal spectro-microscopy.
Monia Vadrucci is a Ph.D. in Physics; Hadrontherapy and High-Tech Medical Instruments expert; research and development of particle accelerators for medical and multidisciplinary applications; design of ionizing radiation sources and specific experiments in the field of life sciences, in-vitro and in-vivo radiobiology, space and aero-space, applied physics, nuclear fusion and safety, materials science, geology and mineralogy, cultural heritage conservation, bio-technologies.
