Progetto JOIN - TEX

The students of ITS TAM BIELLA decided to develop, in collaboration with the Tintoria e Finissaggio 2000 (TF 2000) company, a green coupled fabric, composed of three layers of fully compostable materials, to develop the first compostable jacket.
The bonded fabric we wanted to make had to have good thermal insulation and had to be breathable, so that it could have different uses on the market (sustainable padded clothing ex. jackets or vests, baby sleeping bags and blankets).
The first phase of our project began with the study and research of suitable and compatible materials to carry out the coupling.
The result of the research had to have established that the fabric was 100% natural for the external sides and the internal padding had to be of green material with good thermal insulation characteristics, in order to obtain a breathable and hypoallergenic coupled fabric.
The study of natural materials has highlighted SeaCell as suitable fabrics for external coupling and linen wadding for padding. The coupled fabric is composed on the outside of the SeaCell textile with diagonal processing on one side and canvas processing on the other and inside with linen wadding padding.
To carry out the coupling we used a latest generation machinery with PUR HOTMELT technology, the most innovative for the coupling of fabrics in terms of efficiency and respect for the environment, the machinery was made available to us by the Tintoria Finissaggio 2000 company.
The coupled fabric we obtained reflected the technical characteristics that we had set ourselves for, for which we designed accessories for a women's outerwear, studying to use all the greens: buttons in natural material, bias in for the finishes and lyocell thread for the seams, so we have created the first women's jacket, which can be compostable at the end of its life.
