What we already thought would be a fun trip turned out to be so much more: the love and enthusiasm of the exhibitors, attendees and Maker Faire Rome’s team for innovation, education, and general celebration of the maker movement was awe-inspiring. There is so much to see that a single year in attendance is not enough, so if you ever get the opportunity, head to this show, soak in the sea of inventions, and make some great friends along the way.

PARKINSON DETECTOR: intelligenza artificiale e medicina
Nowadays, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning are increasingly being used in medical diagnosis. Parkinson Detector is an Artificial Intelligence system capable of recognizing the typical motor impairments of Parkinson's disease. In particular, it identifies abnormalities in the oscillation of the upper limbs, such as symmetry and amplitude, which are currently of interest to clinicians as possible early indicators of the disease. The markerless system is non-invasive for the patient and easy to use, consisting of a PC, two cameras, and two specifically developed AI software.
Tommaso Caligari
I am Tommaso Caligari, currently in my third year at Omar Institute in Novara, specializing in Electronics and Robotics. I presented this project at the I Giovani e le Scienze - FAST 2023 competition, and I was awarded the Certificate of Merit from the "Yale Science and Engineering Association" and the opportunity to participate in the international competition EUCYS 2023 in Bruxelles. Over the past years, I have been involved in various individual and group projects, including a sensor for detecting wrong-way vehicles, an artificial leaf, and several others.
