Accademia Italiana della Marina Mercantile

The Italian Shipping Academy was founded in Genoa in 2005 with the aim of offering advanced education and training in the maritime field and was recognized as an ITS Foundation in 2011 with the name of "Foundation of the Higher Technical Institute for Sustainable Mobility - Maritime Transport and fishing".
It is a public institution that issues qualifications from the Ministry of Education, University and Research in the field of tertiary education, carrying out its activities through public and private funding and without profit-making purposes.
The "mission" of the Academy consists in providing specialized training aimed at jobs with a high professional and technological content, based on the needs of companies in the sectors concerned and in particular in the strategic areas of maritime and logistics.
Collaboration with the world of work allows us to guarantee high levels of employment, with a percentage of those who attend courses employed above 90%.
The Academy also develops other activities, in favor of companies in the maritime cluster, both in the field of training, planning, studies and research, with both public and private funding.
In 2008 the International Section of the Academy was launched through the IMSSEA (International Maritime, Safety, Security & Environment Academy), through a bilateral agreement between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the IMO in London.
In 2016 a second operational headquarters was opened in Arenzano (Genoa). This second location was the first structure in Italy to be dedicated exclusively to the training of professional superior technicians of the on-board hotel industry and of figures specialized in reception activities on cruise ships and passenger transport.
