The MARVIN assistive robotic platform

The MARVIN assistive robotic platform

The MARVIN project consists of an autonomous holonomic mobile platform with two Franka Emika manipulators in an anthropomorphic setup, developed under the PNRR Fit4MedRob project. Designed for assistive and service tasks, MARVIN can be controlled via teleoperation but can also rely on tactile and proximity sensors to implement safety policies that can override the user's movements. The proposed demo will allow fair participants to experience direct interaction and control of the robot. The project aims to demonstrate how sensors and teleoperation enable advanced robotic assistance tasks.

Our team is experienced in sensor-based robot control and perception for human-robot collaboration scenarios. We have extensive experience in large-area tactile sensing and vision-based control, as well as sensing technology fabrication and we have been involved in the recently conlcuded Horizon2020 project 'CoLLaboratE', implementing tactile-based control of an industrial robot. The team is made by robotic engineers coming from various bachelor backgrounds (bioengineering, electronics). We embrace the maker's philosophy to build the prototypes that support our research activities.
