"TuBora": a D_I_Y lift generator for STEAM
What is the project about?
STEAM education requires practical experiments and interactive visual demonstrations to interest today's youth: this apparatus, built from simple laser-cut plywood, will allow them to experiment with the principles of flight physics and aerodynamics, in an interactive way, building and testing small parachutes.
Where did you get the idea?
For years our fablab, which operates within a research structure in the field of theoretical physics (the ICTP of Trieste), has stood out for the design and construction of devices that can assist and facilitate STEAM education, DIY and open source.
How did you transform the idea into a real project?
The idea was born out of necessity and after some tests, and thanks to the technologies available in the fablab, a first prototype was created. Then, after many "field" tests with many teenagers and children of different ages, this final version was reached, which is both economical and versatile in its use for various classroom laboratories.
