"ZXnet": LAN gaming for vintage Sinclair computers

What is the project about?
It is a retro-nostalgic effort to show that an old computing platform like the Sinclair ZX Spectrum (from 1982, that's more than 40 years ago!) can still be used nowadays for LAN gaming: of course, the network protocols used are much slower, and also the CPU has very little power, so the games are quite simple, for to this limited environment.

Where did you get the idea?
The ZX Spectrum, invented by Sir Clive Sinclair and his team in UK in the 1981-1982, was my first computer :) In the past 10 year I have been collecting many of such computers, from eBay and friends, and so it become natural to trey to network them together with their original ZX Interface 1.

How are creativity, technology, ingenuity and innovation combined in your project?
Gaming is an activity that span all generations, and even 40-years old games, written in simple BASIC language, can be entertaining in this era of fast rendering, crazy powerful GPU and advanced gaming environment.

We are all colleagues and friends, we work at a fablab, we have a background in the scientific and educational field. And we like retro-gaming, pre-TCP/IP networking and ancient computers!
