Fondazione D34Health
The Digital Driven Diagnostics, Prognostics, and Therapeutics for Sustainable Health Care Foundation (D³4 Health) was established under the 2021 National Research Program (PNC) to spearhead the coordination of the D34 Health initiative. The Foundation’s core mission is to foster the dissemination of scientific knowledge and innovation for societal benefit, actively contributing to the cultural, social, and economic growth of the communities in which it operates. Serving as a central hub for knowledge exchange, the Foundation collaborates extensively with businesses, public and private entities, and academic institutions at both national and international levels.
The D34 Health initiative brings together 28 partners, including public and private universities, research institutions, and companies. Its primary objective is to enhance the diagnosis, monitoring, and treatment of five critical diseases: metastatic colon cancer, liver and bile duct cancer, central nervous system cancer, diabetes type I, and multiple sclerosis.
At the forefront of this initiative is the creation of human "Digital Twins" and "Biological Twins" of organs, leveraging cutting-edge technologies like machine learning and artificial intelligence. These digital replicas are powered by a combination of historical and real-time data, enabling precise simulations of patients' health conditions and more accurate predictions of disease progression.
This innovative approach offers the potential for more precise diagnostics, continuous health monitoring, and highly personalized treatments. It not only promises to greatly improve patient outcomes and quality of life but also stands to transform the medical field, reducing error margins in conventional therapies and delivering effective treatments for complex, hard-to-treat conditions.
