Wellbeing Intelligent Supportive pendant for Elder
What is the context of your innovation?
WISE was designed to fill a gap in current assistive technologies. It is an economical and comfortable device capable of improving the home life of elderly people with hearing loss and amnesia; it can also provide greater safety to the wearer and their guardian, notifying in real time on an app if a fall occurs.
What is your project about?
WISE is energetically autonomous, includes sensors, WiFi and LEDs managed by a microcontroller, all in a few cm. It sends a request for assistance if the inertial sensor and the AI algorithm associate the change in acceleration with a fall; it lights up green if it recognizes the intercom and red when it's time to take medications.
What are the next steps?
WISE is a working prototype. The team is working to make the sound recognizer more versatile that currently distinguishes pre-established intercom and telephone. To improve the acoustics, a crochet cotton package was chosen. In the future, a single app for user initialization and fall notifications will be developed.
