A very strong event of the year for every maker. A place that inspires and teaches me something new and gives me the opportunity to share my knowledge and experience with a huge number of people in one space. MFR helps develop my project through meeting new clients and makers.

Diversity, Fun and Fashion
What is the project about?
The project consists of the possibility of creating objects/clothes using multi-coloured combinable modular tiles to give people the opportunity to choose what they prefer to create something personalized.
Where did you get the idea?
All people are different, but fashion increasingly pushes towards homologation, with this project I try to find a solution between customization and fashion, creating products based on combinable modular tiles. I selected waste materials by creating prototypes with different cutting/attaching techniques, testing them in workshops
How are creativity, technology, ingenuity and innovation combined in your project?
The project aims to stimulate the maximum creativity of every person who uses the tiles to create unique products. To create the modules I used laser and manual cutting, to blend technology and craftsmanship.
Sofia Elena Barella
This is the first project of such complexity that I have realised in my career.
For the realisation of this project, I studied the different technological solutions that I could use for the production of the tiles, a very different field from that of my studies. In fact, I am a fashion designer, I graduated from the Art School for Fashion and I started my academic studies at the Accademia Italiana. I am attracted by the possibility of experimenting with how new technologies can be used in the fashion industry also for the production of handcrafted products.
