Fiubric: not just waste

Fiubric: not just waste

What is the context of your innovation?
The innovation is part of the context of sustainable textile techniques which currently only involve mechanical recycling to transform fabric into fiber through machinery and chemical substances. The problems of current techniques are the huge waste of water, the use of chemical products, the difficulties in recycling mixed fabrics.

What is your project about?
Fiubric wants to overcome the limits of today's recycling techniques, creating a new textile technique, starting from waste and without subjecting it to a new spinning process, with a lower environmental impact and the possibility of recycling more types of fabric. The fabric draws inspiration from warp/weft weaves using used fabric bands.

What are the next steps?
The project is currently at an advanced stage, the fabric has already been used for the construction of garments presented in a fashion show organized by the Municipality of Rome. For the future, the aim is to be able to adapt industrial techniques to the project, in order to allow wider production.

Fiubric: not just waste

Fausto Ineri

I have recently completed an academic diploma in fashion design at Accademia Italiana, Rome. This was the first complex project I developed, but the conception and realisation stemmed from the knowledge and experience I acquired during my studies. It was driven by my passion for fashion and my desire to move towards sustainable fashion.
