Also starring at Maker Faire Rome 2021 is Intellimech, a consortium of 42 companies aimed at interdisciplinary research in the field of mechatronics, including advanced electronic design, information technology, ICT systems and mechanics, for applications in different industrial sectors. The Consortium is promoted by Kilometro Rosso and Confindustria Bergamo (who are founding members). As part of its research activities, Intellimech is developing specialised expertise in artificial intelligence techniques and, in particular, in their technological transfer in the manufacturing field to its members and to companies in the area, expertise that it intends to further enhance with this memorandum of understanding.

At the Innovators’ Fair, the consortium brought the JOiiNT Lab project, a laboratory set up in collaboration with the Italian Institute of Technology (the laboratory develops projects on robotics and artificial intelligence in the industrial field).
An environment of technological maturity
JOiiNT Lab aims to be an environment of technological maturity where IIT technologies and business needs meet. The lab is configured as a tool to speed up the innovation process of the industrial system. Among the first objectives is the development of an Artificial Intelligence platform for the manufacturing sector (handling, remote control, movement, exoskeletons, vision systems). One of the activities on which the initiative’s efforts will focus is also the development of remote smart working methods for the control of industrial plants so that, in the event of a new health emergency situation, production activities can be kept operational without risk to workers and reducing the negative impact on the country’s economic fabric.
