HELP MAKE THE WORLD MORE “CIRCULAR”!
makeITcircular is the contest that promotes the Circular Consumption Charter and the values of recycling, reuse and co-design.
To participate and win up to €3,000, participants must submit a project that enhances the principles of sustainability, sharing, saving, reuse, and repurposing of products and resources.
The shift from a linear economy model to a “circular economy” represents the key to economic growth that respects material and natural resources, making a concrete contribution to the fight against climate change—a goal the Planet is committed to achieving by 2050.
To practice and encourage “circular consumption”, promoting a transition from a culture of waste and disposability to one of recycling and reuse, the Circular Consumption Charter was created: a collection of ideas to guide the major decisions required by the ecological transition, aiming to establish a fairer society and economy.
The Contest
The makeITcircular contest rewards the best ideas aligned with the principles of the Charter, helping to spread its message and engage various stakeholders in its implementation.
In particular, the contest calls for projects that aim to:
- Raise awareness of the environmental impacts of products and the industrial processes behind them;
- Promote understanding of the concepts of “circularity” and “environmental footprint” of products and services;
- Move beyond the “disposable” approach in production and consumption, emphasizing durability, sharing, repair, reuse, and repurposing of products and material resources;
- Involve consumers in defining the “circularity” characteristics of products, helping them understand that their behaviors—both during use and after disposal—can influence such characteristics.
Eligible participants include individuals over 18 (Italian or foreign), companies, organizations, associations, foundations, and/or other legal entities based or residing in Italy.
Please note: all projects submitted through the Call for Makers by Maker Faire Rome 2025, in the “circular economy” category, are also automatically eligible to participate.
