Maker Faire Rome 2021, starring projects | Less CO2

Less CO2 is a project by Lorenzo Anile, Davide Piacentini, Eugenio Russo, Andrea Casaroli, Thomas Alessi and Andrea Eraclea, which aims to tackle the climate crisis with open eyes and by acting directly and transparently on carbon dioxide emissions. It is also a startup that develops and produces technologies that aim to reduce air pollution. «At Less CO₂, – reads the company’s website – we are convinced that one of the solutions to the problem of the large amount of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere is to neutralise the amount of carbon dioxide already present, and so we have developed a machine capable of breaking down the CO₂ in the air into oxygen and carbon using electrochemical processes. We develop and assemble these machines with our own capital, and they are then installed in outdoor locations selected by our team of specialists on the basis of various factors, such as population density, exposure to the sun, rainfall, and the presence of CO₂ in the area’s atmosphere». Less CO2 was one of the featured projects at Maker Faire Rome 2021. We met the team and asked them a few questions.

What does Less CO2 do?

«We are a startup company and our mission is to save the planet from pollution. In order to achieve this goal, we have developed a technology that uses a series of electrochemical processes to obtain C– and O2 ions from CO2. The same technology has been applied to a patented machine, which is applied outdoors and powered by solar panels, which was installed on our stand during the fair. We are dedicated to making SMEs and businesses carbon neutral, and they turn to us for a commercial as well as a moral and sustainable advantage.
