MaketoCare: Sanofi presents the technological frontiers of caregiving

Combining research and makers for cutting-edge solutions that can improve the daily lives of many patients

Being on the side of patients and their needs is one of Sanofi’s main goals. The French pharmaceutical group, one of the largest in the world, has been at the forefront for years and is always looking for solutions that can guarantee a better future for those who struggle against serious diseases every day.

To do this, the Sanofi Genzyme company, that deals specifically with developing specific treatments for rare or difficult-to-cure disabling diseases, has launched the MaketoCare initiative, to unite the world of innovation and makers with that of patients. The target? Guaranteeing a better future, through concrete progress, for those facing daily health problems.

MaketoCare is a project that sees in the Maker Faire Rome – the European Edition 2019, the world-famous innovative technology fair that will take place from 18 to 20 October at the Fiera di Roma, a fundamental collaboration. This international innovation fair brings together innovators and projects of all kinds, in fact, it will also host the winners and finalists of the 2019 edition of the Sanofi contest.

According to the company, scientific innovation and its infinite possibilities can really improve the quality of life of many people. Access to care, support, prevention, and treatment are the key concepts that guide Sanofi in its caregiving process. Thus, at the MaketoCare Village of the Maker Faire, it will be possible to come into contact with the always strongly patient-oriented vision of the French care-giving industry.

Specifically, Sanofi will show the Next Steps, Kyphi, and Click4all projects to the public. The first is aimed at creating prototypes of walking aids, that have been released in open-source mode on digital platforms and implemented by the FabLabs. Kyphi, on the other hand, is a project that presents a working prototype of a device able to monitor individuals with serious asthmatic problems in real-time. Finally, Click4all is a programmable keyboard for PC, tablet, and smartphone, designed and developed specifically for school and rehabilitation use.
