CITROËN LAUNCHES THE FIRST GLASSES THAT RESTORE THE TASTE FOR TRAVEL
Driving holidays and long journeys are a popular part of Australian life. But with more time and opportunities to read on their smartphones or tablets, children and adults alike are afflicted by motion sickness. Over 30 million people in Europe suffer from chronic travel sickness. In response, Citroën, a brand dedicated to comfort, is presenting SEETROËN, the first glasses to eliminate motion sickness. Dizziness, headaches and nausea … nearly everyone has felt the sensation of motion sickness at least once in their life when they travel
The specs
Typically caused by a conflicting perception between your inner ear and eyes, motion sickness can put a damper on everything from sailing adventures to road trips, cable cars and theme park rides.
To resolve this conflict, the glasses use a technology dubbed “Boarding Ring.” Essentially, the glasses feature four rings full of blue liquid that move around the eyes to “recreate the horizon line” to resolve the conflict between the senses that cause the affliction, and put your senses back in sync.
After wearing them for roughly 10 to 12 minutes, your motion sickness should disappear. Citroen claims they have been tested with a rate of 95% efficacy in adults.
For the design of the glasses, Citroën called on 5.5, a collective design studio based in Paris, which has successfully incorporated the Brand’s fresh, simple and ergonomic style. The result is a pair of glasses with a high-tech look in white soft-touch plastic.
There aren’t any lenses in the frames, which means you can wear them over your actual glasses or share them with fellow travelers. According to Citroen, they can be used by children older than 10, as that’s when the inner ear has finished growing.
Where to find them
