ALTER-EGO

ALTER-EGO is a mobile robot with an anthropomorphic bust born in 2017 from the joint efforts of the SoftBots Lab of the Italian Institute of Technology and the research center “E. Piaggio” of the University of Pisa.
The operation of its actuators and its anthropomorphic hands is inspired by the elasticity and natural adaptability of our muscles and the synergistic movements of our hands. These features allow it to work in the most diverse environments, guaranteeing safety, sturdiness and versatility in the interaction.
The upper part of the body is integrated on a self-balancing system with two wheels, designed to minimize the footprint and increase the agility of ALTER-EGO.
It has a double stereoscopic vision system that allows it to see well both indoors and outdoors, together with microphones, speakers, tilt sensors, accelerometers, gyroscopes and proximity sensors.
ALTER-EGO has an on-board computer that allows it to operate in partially autonomous mode, but also a pilot station from which it is possible to use it as an avatar in which to dive to be able to remote operate.
