No brain here! Creating Robots using Open Source FPGAs!

What if we make robots that mimics the human nervous system? How we can do that? What is an FPGA anyway? In this project we'll see my research and some little and cool robots that have a raspberry pi as a brain and, as the nervous system circuits inside an open source FPGA to move, sense, and react much faster than you can imagine!


We will talk a little bit about robots that were created taking nature from inspiration and how these robots are going to play a very important role in the fight against climate change. We will also explain in a simple way what is an FPGA, and why open source FPGAs are so cool and easy to use. Finally we will see some of the open source robots created for this project and how they are capable of design, synthesize and upload their own circuits in real time and without human intervention. That means: robots capable of changing their own nervous system, their own body, in real time!

I'm a Robotics, STEM expert, and rapid prototyping engineer, but above all, I'm a person who loves to learn new things and share their crazy projects and ideas with others because creating new things, just for the joy of doing something new, and share that happiness with others is one of the most beautiful things that a person can do.


I'm actually working on the development of Social Robots. In my free time, I love to tinker with different stuff, like Open Source FPGAs and bio-inspired robots, educational projects, or the organization of events inside the Maker world.


Reading, videogames, and basketball are some of my passions. I used to say and share a lot of silly things on social media and I'm still dreaming of having a fully operational Wall-e.
