Open call for residency at Det Digit Art House
New residency for artists or researchers working on the interaction of technology and nature
How can artists and scientists experiment with technology rooted in regenerative practices? Waag Futurelab and Det Digit Art House join forces for a new residency for artists or researchers working on the interaction of technology and nature. The residency aims to support artists that operate with regenerative principles like permacomputing, degrowth, solar punk and adjacent philosophies addressing work within planetary boundaries.
The one-month residency takes place at Det Digit Art House, the former home and studio of digital artist Det Digit. The location itself is part of the experience: a cosy house in the wooded area of Knegsel, yet just a stone’s throw from one of Europe’s largest technology manufacturing hubs. This contrast creates a unique setting to reflect on the entanglements of ecology and computation. It offers a dedicated space for focused research and practice.
The residency will be mentored by the board of Det Digit House, with contribution of researchers of Waag Futurelab. The residency will take place between June and September 2026, with space for two residents each staying one month.
The residency includes:
- A stay of one month in Det Digit Art House in Knegsel, Brabant
- Access to the library of Det Digit and Waag Futurelab
- 2 guiding sessions with Waag Futurelab
- A presentation moment at Waag Futurelab after the residency
Apply via detdigitarthouse [@] freedom [dot] nl with a motivation letter (max. 2 pages), your resume (max. 2 pages) & portfolio (max. 10 MB).
Deadline for application: 28 April 23:59 hrs. Selection will be announced in the first week of May.
