About us

Maker Faire Rome: for 13 years, European and global innovation excellence has been meeting in Rome.

Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition is promoted by the Rome Chamber of Commerce and organized by Innova Camera within the “Industry 4.0” program, with the objective of creating an ecosystem where tradition and innovation meet to generate new entrepreneurial value.

Founded in 2013, Maker Faire Rome has grown to become a structured and dynamic platform that connects makers, businesses, startups, universities, research centers, schools, and enthusiasts through co-design, learning, and matchmaking pathways.

A place where ideas become prototypes and prototypes become businesses.

Partners

The event is supported by leading institutional partners – including Lazio Region, Roma Capitale, Ministry of Education and Merit, Unioncamere, Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and ICE – Italian Trade Agency – who have contributed to making it the European reference point for accessible and participatory innovation.

The Event

The three-day event features a rich exhibition component alongside workshops, talks, meetings, and contests on themes that define the future: robotics, artificial intelligence, IoT, cybersecurity, circular economy. An always inclusive, never divisive approach, because innovation is born from people’s needs and develops through collaboration and sharing.

The International Maker Faire Network

Maker Faire Rome is organized under license from Make Community and is part of the global Maker Faire network.

Maker Faire is the Greatest Show (and Tell) on Earth—a family-friendly showcase of invention, creativity and resourcefulness, and a celebration of the Maker Movement.  It’s a place where people show what they are making and share what they are learning.  Makers range from tech enthusiasts to crafters to homesteaders to scientists to garage tinkerers. They are of all ages and backgrounds. Maker Faire aims to entertain, inform, connect, and grow this community.

The original Maker Faire event was held in San Mateo, CA in 2006 and in 2025 celebrated its 17th show. Independently produced large scale Maker Faires occur each year in cities around the world – Rome, Orlando, Milwaukee, Hanover, Lille, Tokyo, and Shenzhen to name a few – alongside many smaller, community-driven, independently organized Maker Faires and School Maker Faire

About Make: Magazine

The launch of Make: Magazine in 2005, followed by Maker Faire in 2006, jumpstarted a worldwide Maker Movement, which is transforming innovation, culture and education. The first magazine devoted entirely to Do-It-Yourself (DIY) technology projects, Make: unites, inspires, informs, and entertains a growing community of like-minded individuals who undertake innovative projects and ideas in their backyards, basements, and garages. Make:’s projects show makers of every stripe how to make the most of easily accessible materials, from simple electronic components to essential technology and tools like 3D printing and soldering irons. Published since February 2005, Make: is a bi-monthly magazine, available in print, digital and ipad versions.
