Terravionics, the innovative startup conceived during the lockdown, gets ready for Maker Faire Roma 2023!

FROM A (BRILLIANT) IDEA TO A (SUCCESSFUL) STARTUP. PASSING THROUGH MAKER FAIRE ROME 2022, THE EXPO NSE 2022, THE LE BOURGET AIR-SPACE SHOW 2023 IN PARIS AND MORE: this is TERRAVIONICS, AMONG THE STAR PLAYERS OF MAKER FAIRE ROME 2023

Our interview with Franco M. Battagello, project leader of TERRAVIONICS

It sounds like a success story that of TERRAVIONICS, born just as a “bold idea” during the lockdown, now a deep tech start-up. Specialized in data-driven integration of satellite data, sensors etc. with A.I. and digital modeling, designed to manage user’s criticalities. And to deal with climate change challenges, on: productivity, profitability, complexity. Their current focus is on Agritech: viticulture in particular (they improve vineyard-value through performance: enhancing plant health via proactive actions, while dropping costs).

However, as Franco (Frank) M. Battagello – the startup’s project leader – tells us, they engineered a model that is scalable “by design” to other cultivars and even to other types of territory-focused applications.

Alongside this process users are also supported in minimizing their environmental footprint through the implementation of less polluted and more sustainable actions, by reducing the use of chemicals through their predictive analysis and resource optimization.

TERRAVIONICS was one of the key players at Maker Faire Rome 2022

TERRAVIONICS at Maker Faire Rome 2022: a key milestone

Its participation in the 10th edition of Maker Faire Rome in 2022 has definitely been a runaway for the success of TERRAVIONICS. Many reasons explain why being present at Europe’s largest innovation fair was so important: Frank revealed us that thanks to #MFR2022 the startup team was able to validate some of their assumptions, they met potential industrial partners, they gained visibility and it has been a “smart tool” of team building. And… it was great fun!

Today TERRAVIONICS is being funded by ESA (European Space Agency) and Lazio Innova. It’s incubated at ESA BIC Lazio, currently undergoing R&D, and the team, that recently started cooperating with a startup partner (Space11), is already actively working on a pilot case “on the field” (literally!).

A brilliant idea, a great success story!

In the span of just one year, TERRAVIONICS has achieved different important milestones: Frank shared with us that they made it to the Top10 both at Prototron @ Latitude59 in Tallinn, and at Climate Launchpad green-tech startup challenges. In late 2022, they took part as exhibitors in Maker Faire Rome and Expo NSE (New Space Economy). And in 2023 they got endorsed by ITA (Italian Trade Agency) to represent Italy among a panel of 10 start-ups at the prestigious Air-space show at Le Bourget 2023 in Paris.

And this success seems destined not to stop! Now TERRAVIONICS has, again, been selected by ITA to represent Italy at Pollutec 2023 (the only startup from Latium that got selected).

So many milestones achieved by TERRAVIONICS, including the Le Bourget 2023 air-space show in Paris (even interviewed for the main National broadcast news)

Meet them at Maker Faire Rome 2023, Oct. 20 to 22

Also this year, TERRAVIONICS will not miss the date with Europe’s largest innovation fair. For the occasion, they’ll be showcasing a demo of the satellite software layer and of the sensor-sourced data fusion that the startup will present from October 20 to 22 at the Rome Fairgrounds. But there’s more: for the 11th edition of Maker Faire Rome, the team will also bring a diorama to better illustrate their value creating process to the general public.
