Solar Flower Power is a solar powered irrigation system that automatically monitors soil moisture to water plants only when necessary. We save water and use sunlight to grow plants with no carbon footprint! The system consists of a solar panel, a rechargeable battery, a water pump, a soil moisture sensor, basic electronic components and the Arduino micro-controller.

Alan Bates is a passionate educator in physics, computer science and almost everything that belongs to the world around us. Physics teacher at Marymount International School and Astronomy professor at John Cabot University, Rome. His interests include lab-based learning, the Arduino platform, Open Source technologies and Astrobiology.
