Journeys to mysterious lands, visions of the future, and even a special popsicle: the experiences awaiting you at Maker Faire Rome 2025

There’s no need to imagine the future, just experience it. From October 17 to 19, 2025, the Gazometro Ostiense hosts Maker Faire Rome – The European Edition, transforming innovation into a tangible experience waiting to be explored. From virtual reality neuroscience to 3D-printed popsicles, including neural prosthetics, circular mobility, and learning artificial intelligence, each project illustrates a different way of experiencing the present with the tools of tomorrow.

Explore like Jules Verne, with visors and senses

Jules Verne 200 is a 10-minute immersive journey through the French author’s fantastical worlds, spanning oceans, space, and mysterious lands. Two high-capacity 250-square-meter rooms, each equipped with 80 viewers, are ready to welcome the widest possible audience. They host an interactive narration guided by Little Verne, an avatar created to accompany both adults and children on a journey that combines literature, virtual reality, and multisensory experiences.

Distance, contact, relationships: a journey through neuroscience and virtual reality

In the Virtual Distance, Real Connections project from the Italian Institute of Technology, virtual reality is not just an environment, but also a social experiment. In a space between psychology and HCI (Human-Computer Interaction), you can explore how the perception of interpersonal distance between avatars changes, and what happens when digital contact and empathy are simulated.

A career in virtual reality and social psychology awaits you. It’s easy, just follow the map HERE.

Did you know that at Maker Faire Rome you can create your own digital avatar?

With A Pixel Body, ultra-high-fidelity 3D scanning becomes accessible and portable. The system developed by Ambiens allows you to create a digital avatar in seconds, ready for use in gaming, VR, or archiving. A bridge between photography, the metaverse, and digital identity.

A bordo delle macchine del futuro

The Formula Lino project, conceived by 90 students from the UniTS Racing, is a racing car built from flax fiber, a sustainable alternative to carbon fiber. At the Maker Faire Rome, you can experience this example of participatory, circular engineering, which combines sport, research, and alternative materials. The Smart Move, Smart Food prototype also offers an integrated vision of mobility and nutrition: an electric quadricycle and a 3D printer for personalized nutraceuticals, designed for urban life.

Robots, AI and learning systems

In the pavilion dedicated to robotics and artificial intelligence, you’ll encounter technologies that learn, collaborate, and adapt. Projects include:

  • BIAS & Games: an interactive platform that uses AI to detect cognitive and behavioral biases through games, raising awareness of the relationship between technology and public health.
  • Prosthetic Hands: closed-loop robotic hands with sensory feedback and neural control. An evolution of biomedical robotics that integrates neural interfaces, sensors, and adaptive learning.
  • MAV d-IA-gnosis: an AI system designed by a female team that analyzes mammograms and slides to support early diagnosis, improving speed and accessibility in oncology.
  • AI per la medicina personalizzata: projects that use neural networks, NLP, and machine learning to analyze medical records and optimize diagnostic pathways.

Robotics and AI are not presented as predefined solutions, but as tools to be understood, questioned, and tested. A call to technological awareness, open to citizens, students, and professionals.

The popsicle you’ve never tasted

Not So Cool – The popsicle of the future is a 3D-printed, plant-based food with an edible stick made from artichoke scraps. Developed by students and researchers in collaboration with CREA, the idea combines food design, the circular economy, and conscious nutrition.

Maker Faire Rome 2025 is not just an exhibition of inventions, but a place where technology, research, creativity, and social impact converge. The experiences offered at the fair are starting points for reflection on how to design a more habitable, accessible, and connected world.
