Rabdomante. The Utopia of Water. / Glaciator. The Utopia Project
Glaciator è un'installazione artistica collocata in Antartide, composta da robot solari e la loro missione è quella di accelerare il processo della formazione di ghiaccio sui ghiacciai, consentendogli di crescere attraverso la compattazione della neve, riguadagnando la massa perduta a causa del disgelo.
I Glaciator sono goffi nei movimenti ma costanti nella loro ricerca e sono un simbolo dell'ideale utopico.
Rabdomante immagazzina l'energia del sole in batterie che poi alimentano dispositivi chiamati Peltier Cells. Quindi, si forma condensa sul lato freddo delle celle quando entrano in contatto con l'atmosfera. In questo modo si ottiene l'acqua.
La combinazione della natura con la tecnologia consente di generare un nuovo ciclo di vita nel deserto, ottenendo acqua dall'atmosfera nel luogo più arido del mondo.

JOAQUÍN FARGAS’ CURRICULUM VITAE
Artist-engineer // Engineer-artist. Joaquín Fargas integrates the artistic, scientific and technological fields in his work. Through science, he communicates the concepts and theories in a playful and poetical manner. Through art, he teaches how to grasp the properties of nature and become aware of its care.
His production is centred on possible or utopian proposals related to life, its preservation and the interrelationship between living beings and the future. In his work, he integrates biological materials and technological media aimed at breaking down barriers and generating possible dialogues and hybrid ecologies.
From the beginning of the 2000s, he has been incorporating digital and communication technologies as well as robotics into his artistic practice.
His work has been exhibited in museums, galleries and biennials worldwide. Over the last few years, he has developed a profuse activity entailing execution of works, ‘site specific’ installations, performances and academic conferences in all the continents, including Antarctica.
