What we already thought would be a fun trip turned out to be so much more: the love and enthusiasm of the exhibitors, attendees and Maker Faire Rome’s team for innovation, education, and general celebration of the maker movement was awe-inspiring. There is so much to see that a single year in attendance is not enough, so if you ever get the opportunity, head to this show, soak in the sea of inventions, and make some great friends along the way.

SLIM: il Robot serpente per ispezione industriale
The snake-like robot SLIM (Snake-Like robot for Inspection and Maintenance) is capable of entering dangerous areas for humans and carrying out inspection tasks thanks to its camera. It can face high temperatures, darkness and it can move through narrow passages, while an operator guides it remotely in complete safety. In the industrial field, this robot can find many applications for the inspection and maintenance of machinery or parts of plants, which, thanks to easier monitoring, will be more efficient.
RAIN - Robotic Automation Inspection Laboratory
Carlo Brindesi Canali is a researcher from the Advanced Robotics line of Italian Institute of Technology. He is coordinating the RAIN-lab (Robotic and Automation INspection laboratory). The goal of the laboratory is to develop customized inspection robots suitable into a wide range of applications in the sector of Energy, Power Generation, Civil and Industrial site inspection, quality control, automotive, aerospace. Alessandro Pistone, Paolo Guardiani, Daniele Ludovico, Lorenzo De Mari are members of the laboratory.
