Maker Faire Rome 2021, starring projects | WeCare

A new need has emerged in urban mobility: the need for fast sanitisation for vehicles with a high turnover of drivers and passengers. WeCare has developed a fast and efficient solution. The aim of the project is to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and improve the level of hygiene inside vehicles such as taxis, carpools and company fleets. Wecare is a project that was developed by Manuel Favaron, Riccardo Sassetti, Vittorio Stefanini, Simone Franceschetti, Mario Villano, Gabriele Pollastrini and Francesco D’Urso. The team was born within the academic entrepreneurial training course TACC – Training for Automotive Companies Creation, organised by the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia. WeCare was one of the featured projects at Maker Faire Rome 2021. Here is how the team experienced the Innovation Fair.

What is WeCare?

«The Covid-19 pandemic has had a negative and very significant impact on both the lives of individuals and a large number of economic activities. Amongst these, the automotive sector and the transport system have seen a drastic reduction in revenue and a decline in customer confidence. The need that WeCare Solutions wants to meet is for sanitisation against bacteria and viruses in vehicles, especially those with high driver and passenger turnover».

You are a very large team

«The WeCare Solutions team is a multidisciplinary team, formed during a joint university course between the Universities of Modena and Ferrara. We are composed of four engineers who deal with product development and implementation, two designers who deal with the user experience and finally an economist who deals with management».

Why did you choose Maker Faire Rome to present your project?

«It was a great opportunity for us to be able to exhibit at Maker Faire Rome, as we were able to show our invention to thousands of people and get lots of feedback that will surely lead us to improve our proposal. The fair was an opportunity to listen to and create contacts with other makers and companies who are enthusiastic about our sector».

Tell us about “your” Maker Faire Rome

«Our experience at Maker Faire Rome was dynamic and engaging, as we managed to involve many people and make them curious about our innovation. Each person who stopped by our stand was able to give us very useful advice and suggestions for the development of our project».

What do you think of the location?

«The location of the Gazometro was very evocative, it was an opportunity to visit and experience this site of industrial archaeology that contrasts perfectly with the spirit of “doing” typical of the makers who populated Maker Faire Rome».
