Maker Faire Rome 2021, the ECARules4All | Virtual Reality project

ECARules4All is a project that aims to be the “WordPress for VR content”, a Unity plug-in to allow users without programming experience to modify the behaviour of a VR experience through natural language Event-Condition Action (ECA) rules. The rules define the behaviour of each virtual object in the environment in isolation and its interaction with other objects. Once equipped with components that support the behaviour rules, the solution supports the creation of VR experience models that users can configure to suit their own purposes.

The CG3HCI Laboratory

Bringing this project to Maker Faire Rome 2021 was Professor Lucio Davide Spano’s CG3HCI Laboratory. The former is an interdisciplinary research group of the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science of the University of Cagliari. The group’s research focuses mainly on Computer Graphics (CG) and Human-Computer Interaction (HCI).

Gesture interaction, virtual and augmented reality

Spano leads the group. He obtained his PhD. at the University of Pisa in 2013. He has written several articles on new interaction techniques and visualisations, gestural interaction, virtual and augmented reality applied to cultural heritage, mobile museum guides and end-user development.
