Maker Faire Rome 2021 chooses the Gasometer as venue for its upcoming on site edition
The iconic Gasometer, in the Ostiense district, a true city landmark, will host the 2021 on site edition Maker Faire Rome 2021
The wait is over: the chosen location of Maker Faire Rome 2021 is the area of the Gasometer, in the Ostiense district. It is now official: Maker Faire Rome 2021 will be back with both an online and on site edition, and the venue will be set in the most iconic and vibrant area of the city: the Gasometer. From October 8 to 10, come to get a glimpse of the future!
Since the early twentieth century, the Ostiense district has meant “innovation”, “growth”, “development” for the city, and from the city to the world. The Gasometer marks that vocation: is a true landmark, an iconic point of historical, visual and landscape interest. Overlooking the banks of the Tiber, the Gasometer never ceases to amaze tourists and Romans with the way it stands out on the skyline of the city and redefines its skyline.
Nowadays, the whole area is undergoing a massive, powerful transformation: a throughout regeneration process that will give the city its “innovation district” back. In fact, the Ostiense district was included in 2020 by the Guardian in the ranking of the most promising neighborhoods in Europe, being Rome the only Italian city represented in that ranking.
Attending Maker Faire Rome 2021 at Gazometro Ostiense will then also mean to get the unvaluable chance to visiting such a unique place, marked by highly symbolic meaning. The Gasometer has never been open to the public before; Maker Faire Rome will be the very first chance to visit it.
The exhibition area
Maker Faire Rome 2021 will spread over the area of the Gasometer for about 6 hectares, out of the total of 12 on which the area extends.
The exhibition will take place on both post-industrial buildings, heritage of the area. Guests and visitors will be also welcome under the shelter of purposely-.built spectacular marquee and tent structures. Open air installations and performances will also be featured.
The themed areas
As in any Maker Faire, projects – either selected via the Call for Makers, Call for Universities, etc, or by featured partners and sponsors – will be sorted and grouped per theme: Life I Arts I Research I Fabrication I Health I Education.
Maker Music and its installations, as well as other extra content, will be scattered throughout the vast area.
With deep regret, it will not be possible to set up the “Maker Kids Area” for children. However, many projects and attractions will be of interest for them, too. Visiting Maker Faire Rome will surely be an eciting experience for any kids aged 8 and older.
How to visit Maker Faire Rome 2021
Tickets can be purchased exclusively online. Ticket sales will open soon.
It will not be possible to purchase the ticket at the entrance; there will be no ticket office on the premises. It would be advisable to purchase ticket in advance, so to make life easier for both attendees and organizers and to allow full compliance with the anti-Covid provisions to run as smoothly as possible.

Getting to Maker Faire Rome 2021
The Gasometer area is well connected, both for those moving around the city and for those arriving from outside Rome.
The easiest way to get there is by underground (“B” Line, stops “Piramide” and “Garbatella”)
The Ostiense railway station, pretty close too, connects the area with Fiumicino Airport. Termini and Tiburtina railways stations, high-speed trains hubs, are both very conveniently linked to the area by underground, line “B”.
The area is served by hotels, B&Bs and several other hospitality solutions.
